Black pepper for beauty and skin? Really?

Black pepper for beauty and skin? Really?

Black pepper is usually known for its exceptional flavour profile on foods in the culinary world.  Lesser known is it other benefits in the skincare or beauty department.

Did you know that black pepper oil or essential oil with its warming spiciness can aid in the speed of healing bruises?  Not only that, it does well for boosting circulation, helping your sore muscles and joints to feel better because of its warming action.

The scent of black pepper enhances alertness by clearing your mind and bring a sense of clarity - bringing things into focus and uplifting spirits.

What can Black Pepper do for your skin?

Exfoliates The Skin
Black pepper can be used as a scrub to exfoliate the skin and remove dead skin cells. This makes your skin smoother.  Just take 1/2 teaspoon of crushed or grounded black pepper and 1 teaspoon of yogurt. Apply to your face and wash after 20 minutes.  This facial routine will help remove toxins from your skin, leaving it soft and radiant.

Promotes blood circulation
Black pepper also helps promote blood circulation and provides more oxygen and nutrients to your skin. Its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties help prevent acne.  Besides this, regular use may also help to improve the appearance of the dreaded cellulite.

Revitalise scalp and hair
For a quick mask for your crown, mix a teaspoon each of lemon and ground black pepper seeds and apply to your scalp and hair. Be careful not to have the mixture get into your eyes.  The mask will revitalise your hair, making it shiny, lustrous, and soft. Leave the mixture on for 10 to 15 minutes and rinse off with cool water.

Alternatively, you can also mix a teaspoon of powdered black pepper with equal amounts of honey and apply to your hair.  This will strengthen the hair roots and can even help prevent baldness.

As we said, just an ounce of black pepper has a lot to offer.

It removes dead cells, increases microcirculation and improves skin texture.
It revitalizes and tones mood.  So next time,  give a go at the black pepper in the bathroom, other than the kitchen adventures!
